This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to apply general Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements in the workplace. It describes generic OHS responsibilities applicable to employees without managerial or supervisory responsibilities. It also covers the risk-analysis process in relation to an activity and in accordance with an organisation’s risk-management policies and procedures. In this context, the risk-analysis process is conducted using structured analysis methodology according to the current Australian and New Zealand Standard.
This unit applies to those who work in a range of roles and settings in the sport, fitness and recreation industry. This may include those working in after-school or holiday-care programs in a range of locations, in coaching activities or those undertaking a role in outdoor recreation activities, such as camps and other guided activities as well as indoor recreation and fitness activities.
